Boating in the North East
Known for its friendly welcome and varied
landscapes, the North East is the perfect place for on the water
adventures. This region's successes were all built on the region's
waterways.
Now, the River Tyne is a living breathing
playground, for rowers, sailors and canoeists, as the river passes
by pretty Hexham, weaving its way through Gateshead and Newcastle
to the North Sea. The award-winning Northumbrian coastline is
packed with water activities to try out. Take a boat trip to the
island of Lindesfarne to see grey seals, porpoises and sea birds,
or a jump onboard a high speed thundercat.
Further south, Hartlepool's new
multi-million-pound Marina is great place to set sail, and the
cafés, visitor attractions and walking routes all adding to the
experience.
