River bann

River Bann

River Bann

Stretching for over 58km from Lough Neagh to the Atlantic Ocean, the broad River Bann is very popular with sail and motor cruisers, canoeists, water-skiers and anglers alike. The Bann operates a zoning system to ensure safety and accommodate all interests. The banks of the river are home to several historical sites and rich in wildlife with the Lough Beg and Estuary nature reserves. The river is easily navigated with just five locks, and long stretches of open water. Visitors can either use the river to access the sea and visit attractions such as the spectacular Giant’s Causeway, and the coastal towns along the north coast of Ireland, or head inland to explore the expanse of Loch Neagh.
